Day 1: Australia/Santiago (Chile)
Fly with Lan Airlines to Santiago, capital of Chile. On arrival, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel for 2 nights.

Day 2: Santiago/Valparaiso/Vina del Mar
This morning we cross the Coastal Mountain Range to visit Valparaiso, the cultural capital of Chile with its many museums, craft fairs, lively nightlife and fine dining. Valparaiso is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Afternoon visit to the seaside resort towns of Renaca and Vina del Mar before returning to Santiago. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Santiago/Puerto Montt
This morning, we transfer to the airport to board flight to the port city of Puerto Montt, gateway to Patagonia. Our visit includes: Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, Melipulli Hill and the Angelmo crafts market. Transfer to our hotel for 1 night.

Day 4: Puerto Montt/PeullaThis morning we visit Puerto Varas and nearby Petrohue Falls bordering Lake Llanguihue with its spectacular backdrop of Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. Sail on Todos Los Santos Lake to Peulla, enjoying views of the Tronador hills along the way. Check in to hotel for 1 night.

Day 5: Peulla/Bariloche (Argentina)
This morning we drive through the rainforest to Puerto Frias on the Chilean border. We continue to Puerto Alegre by crossing Lake Frias. After a short drive to Puerto Blest, we continue cruising to Puerto Panuelo. We then drive to our final destination at Bariloche. Check in to hotel for 2 nights.

Day 6: Bariloche
Bariloche is located in the Argentinian lake district. Today we take a full day's excursion to one of the main attractions here, Nahuel Huapi National Park where we enjoy views of the 3491m high Mt Tronador, marvel at Gutierrez and Mascardi Lakes and watch glaciers descend Mt Tronador at Ventisquero Negro. Return to hotel.

Day 7: Bariloche/Buenos Aires
This morning we visit Playa Bonita before taking a chairlift to the top of Campanario Hill to enjoy panoramic views of Nahuel Huapi & Perito Moreno lakes, El Trebol Lagoon, and the San Pedro and Llao Llao Peninsulas. This afternoon departure transfer to the airport to board flight to Buenos Aires. On arrival, transfer to the hotel for 3 nights.

Day 8: Buenos Aires
This morning we tour the cosmopolitan capital of Argentina starting with the historic Plaza de Mayo, Government House, Plaza de la Republica, Colon Theatre and the Museum. Next we tour the picturesque neighbourhoods of La Boca, San Telmo, Puerto Madero, Palermo, Rosedal and Recoleta. This evening we enjoy dinner and a tango show. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Buenos Aires
This morning we drive north to visit the neo-gothic Cathedral of San Isidro and continue to the small tourist town of Tigre, located in the Parana Delta region where many rivers and shallow streams merge to form the vast brown Rio Plata. Afternoon cruise along the waterways experiencing river life and lush subtropical vegetation. Return to your hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Buenos Aires/Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
After breakfast, departure transfer to airport to board flight to Rio de Janeiro. On arrival, we are transferred to our hotel for 3 nights. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 11: Rio de Janeiro
Rio, in its spectacular natural setting is well-known for its social scene. This morning we start with the Museum of Art and then travel by cable car to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain to enjoy spectacular views of the city. Afternoon at leisure. This evening we enjoy dinner and a samba show. Overnight at hotel.

Day 12: Rio de Janeiro
This morning we travel through Tijuca Forest to the top of Corcovado Mountain, famous for its magnificent granite landmark, Christ the Redeemer. Afternoon at leisure to explore more of Rio on your own. Overnight at hotel.

Day 13: Rio de Janeiro/Iguazu
After breakfast, departure transfer to board flight to Iguazu Falls. On arrival, transfer to hotel for 2 nights.

Day 14: Iguazu
This morning we visit the waterfalls on the Argentinean side of the National Park traveling via an open train, stopping to enjoy short walking treks. At 'Garganta Station', begin a 1200 m walk to Devil's Throat, the most impressive cascade. This afternoon, we embark on a 4WD tour to appreciate the unique flora and fauna of the park. Finally we climb aboard Zodiac boats to get up close to the San Martin and Bozzetti waterfalls. Overnight at hotel.

Day 15: Iguazu/Lima (Peru)
This morning we visit the Brazilian side of Iguazu National Park to admire panoramic views of San Martin Island, and the Bozzetti, Two Sisters and the Three Muskateers cascades. Later transfer to the airport to board flight to Lima, capital of Peru. Check in to hotel for 2 nights.

Day 16: Lima
This morning we start our tour visiting the residential districts of Miraflores and San Isidro followed by the Huaca Pucllana ceremonial center of Lima culture. We enjoy a walking tour of the main plaza, including Government Palace, Cathedral, the 17th century San Francisco convent and catacombs. This afternoon we visit Larco Museum with its remarkable galleries and collection of Peruvian pre-Columbian history and art. Overnight at hotel.

Day 17: Lima/Cuzco
After breakfast, departure transfer to the Andean city of Cuzco, gateway to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for 2 nights. This afternoon we tour this historic city visiting the Church of San Cristobal, the markets, the Cathedral and the Church of Santo Domingo that is built on the ruins of the famous Inca temple Koricancha or Sun Temple. Overnight at hotel.

Day 18: Cuzco
After breakfast, we visit the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman that contains the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a sacrifice altar (Qenko) and sacred fountains of life and health (Puca Pucara). Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

Day 19: Cuzco/Sacred Valley
After breakfast we drive to the picturesque Andean village of Pisac where we visit the local market. This afternoon it's on to the fortress and temple at Ollantaytambo. Check in to hotel in Sacred Valley for 1 night.

Day 20: Sacred Valley/Aguas Calientes/Machu Picchu
This morning we board the 'Vistadome' train to the 'lost city' of Machu Picchu. We tour the Citadel of Machu Picchu, the Temple of Three Windows, the Sacred Square, Intihuatana (astronomic clock), the Royal Palace, the Sacred Rock and the Temple of the Sun. Check into hotel in Aguas Calientes for 1 night.

Day 21: Machu Picchu/Cuzco
After breakfast, for those feeling up to it, there is an opportunity for a second entry to Machu Picchu to discover Intipunku (Sun Gate), the Moon Temple and to enjoy spectacular views of the city. This afternoon departure transfer to train station to board train to Cuzco. Overnight at hotel in Cuzco.

Day 22: Cuzco/Puno
This morning we drive to Puno, gateway to the islands of Lake Titicaca. On the way, we enjoy spectacular views of the highland altiplano region. En route we visit the Chapel of Andahuaylillas, the Wiracocha temple in Raqchi and the Pucara temple fortress near Puno. Transfer to hotel for 2 nights.

Day 23: Puno
After breakfast, we cruise on Lake Titicaca to the Floating Islands made of reeds and inhabited by the Uros community. On the Island of Taquile, we can observe the traditional dress of the region. Afternoon return to Puno. Overnight at hotel.

Day 24: Puno/Huatajata (Bolivia)
This morning we drive to the town of Copacabana on the shores of Lake Titicaca. We visit the Dominican Church in Pomata and cross Lake Titicaca by hydrofoil to explore the Sun Virgin Temple on Moon Island. We continue on to Huatajata where we experience the 'Andean Roots Eco Village', a charming museum displaying the culture and history of the region. This afternoon we visit the Altiplano Museum and the Alajpacha observatory. Transfer to hotel for 1 night.

Day 25: Huatajata/La Paz
This morning we depart for Tiwanaku, the most important archaeological site in Bolivia. We continue on to La Paz, the capital of Bolivia. This afternoon we tour the city including the Witchcraft and Indian markets before visiting the eroded canyons of Moon Valley. Transfer to hotel for 1 night.

Day 26: La Paz/Lima
Breakfast at your hotel. Later departure transfer to the airport to board flight to Lima. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for 1 night. Overnight at hotel.

Day 27: Lima/Iquitos (Amazon)
Today we transfer to the airport and board our flight to Iquitos, the main port city on the Amazon River and largest city in the Peruvian Amazon. After a brief city orientation we transfer to Explorama Dock for a 40-km boat ride down the mighty Amazon River to the luxury Ceiba Tops Lodge where we stay for 3 nights. This evening enjoy dinner and local entertainment in a local restaurant.

Day 28: Amazon (Ceiba Tops)
Morning boat excursion in search of fresh water pink and grey dolphins that are found in this part of the Amazon. Visit a small Yagua Indian village where your guide will describe the Yagua culture and give you the opportunity to see some of the local crafts. This afternoon enjoy a walk along an Amazon River trail visiting the town of Indiana, a large river community that was originally a Franciscan mission. Return to your lodge.

Day 29: Amazon (Ceiba Tops)
Early morning departure by boat to enjoy breakfast at the ExplorNapo Lodge where we can experience an authentic Amazon River lifestyle in palm-thatched houses surrounded by rainforest. Hike the spectacular Canopy Walkway, one of the longest treetop walkways in the world, spanning over 500 m at a height of 35 m. No special climbing skills required! After lunch, we visit the "ReNuPeRu" ethnobotanical gardens where over 240 medicinal plants are cultivated by a local shaman. Return to your lodge in time to enjoy a cooling dip before dinner.

Day 30: Iquitos/Lima
This morning the choice is yours – a boating excursion on the Amazon or some relaxing time by the pool. Afternoon transfer to Iquitos airport to board flight to Lima. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for 1 night.

Day 31: Lima/Santiago
After breakfast, departure transfer to the airport to board flight to Santiago, Chile. Arrive and transfer to your hotel for 2 nights. This evening enjoy dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 32: Santiago
This morning we visit the main sites in Santiago including the Plaza de Armas, San Francisco Church, La Moneda Government Palace and the bohemian districts of Bellavista, Las Condes and Providencia. Afternoon visit to San Cristobal Hill to enjoy city views. Overnight at hotel.

Day 33-35: Santiago/Australia
Day at leisure to catch up on rest or last minute shopping. Late check-out. Evening departure transfer to the airport to board flight to Australia. Arrive home 2 days later with many lasting memories of your South American journey.
